sar·casm, n. A cutting, often ironic remark...

One Kevin Scull wrote into the Ottawa Sun on the subject of Earl McRae's finest hour (see Cosh's comprehensive demolition, especially its perfect concluding sentence). The text of the letter, which will be banished from the web upon publication of tomorrow's Sun, was as follows (my emphasis):

You [McRae] are correct. You are not smart. I'm sure that you know more than medical experts who have spent their entire adult lives learning about human physiology. I watched my father die and in the last few days he was not in pain.

Also, from a religious point, if a religious person's goal is to be with God for eternity, then I would think people would be happy for her in that she will go home to God and not be in "pain" any more.

I'm sure you will spend the rest of your life fighting for the lives of the hundreds of others who go through the same thing every day in North America. Please keep us informed about your next fight.

The Sun's traditional punchy editorial response: "You know he will!"

That made my morning.
